Philosophy
Dignitas is more than our name. It is our philosophy. This Latin
term refers to one's personal dignity and esteem in the community.
At Dignitas, Inc., our mission is to restore a personal sense of
worth and independence to person's with acquired brain injury and
spinal cord injuries. Our goal is to maximize the functioning of
each resident's capability and condition. Self-care and daily living
skills are promoted through on-going guidance in the areas of
dressing, grooming, kitchen use, home management, meal preparation,
house cleaning, home maintenance, laundry, budgeting, banking,
socialization, recreational, physical condition, health restoration,
and the use of all community resources. Transportation is provided
to facilitate each resident's assessment plan requirements.
An individualized plan is formulated and implemented with input from
the resident, family treating physician, rehabilitation nurse,
dietician, recreational therapist, psychologist and members of the
team providing care. Each resident's care plan identifies a team of
service providers, which might include Occupational Therapy,
Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, physical rehabilitation physician,
neurologists, psychiatrists, neuro-psychology, behavioral
specialists, and attendant care providers.
Dignitas has several houses in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. These
homes are licensed by the State of Michigan to provide specialty

injuries. The facilities provide 24-hour supervision and structure
in a home atmosphere. We have a high staff to resident ratio to
ensure quality of care at our homes. These homes adhere to all
related regulations and guidelines. All homes are handicap
accessible with wheel chair ramps and interior modifications to
provide barrier-free movement within the homes.
The operations of Dignitas are overseen by a Board of Directors and
consultants from a wide variety of academic and medical backgrounds
and experience.
All of our homes provide service to male and female residents 18
